Massachusetts is the 3rd most expensive state to live in. 

In 2023 the most expensive single family in the mls sold  for $19,000,000 and was located at 78 Beacon Street in Beacon Hill. Another single family sold off-market for even more at a whopping $28,250,000 and was also located in Beacon Hill at 56 Beacon Street.

In 2023 the most expensive single family in all of Massachusetts house sold  for $38,127,000 and was located at 21,22,20 Berkeley Avenue in Nantucket. This home was listed in the mls. It has been reported that the Barstools founder bought a home that outdid this sale for $42,000,000.
